About the organization
JASMA - Youth Development and Co-operation Multicultural Union - is officially registered in the Republic of Latvia in 2004.
Our organisation unites young people of different origins and opinions, but whose aim is to promote the society, in which each young man or woman regardless to his or her backgrounds or national, ethnical, sexual or other belonging, has equal access to information and education, as well as opportunity to participate and effect the social, cultural, political processes in the society.
Our mission
To develop potentials of young people, giving them opportunity to receive knowledge, skills and information, which is necessary for their active involvement into social, cultural, political, and economical life of the society, and for realisation of young people’s ideas and projects, for the good of themselves and all the society.
Our aim
To provide young people, regardless to their backgrounds or national, ethnical, sexual or other belonging, with informational, educational and all other support, and education of young people with respect to democratic principles and tolerance.
Our objectives
- Support and development of social activity and initiatives of young people;
- Informing and education of young people in the areas of the human rights and citizenship education, and in the spheres of different social issues, such as drugs, alcohol, safe sex and AIDS, etc.
- Development and promotion of the principles of volunteer work and non-formal education;
- Promotion of intercultural dialogue in the society, especially among young people;
- Work forward for solving the problems of social isolation, gender inequality, and negative stereotypes;
- Co-operation with governmental institutions, non-governmental organisations, private persons, and others in Latvia and abroad.
