On 25th of November, at 18:30 we invite everyone to see a movie in JASMA office. We watch the movie, talk, share emotions and meet hew and interesting people. Free entry.
It's a different type of classic - Stanley Kubrick's "Clockwork Orange"(1971). In a future Great Britain a delinquent agrees to an experiment instead of going to prison. The therapy is supposed to solve society's criminal problem.
Skatāmies ar projektoru uz baltas sienas.
For lovers of photo experiments or plain experiments!
This Sunday at 12:30 we're learning to make photo cameras from stuff at hand, boxes, cans of any kind, even from a matchbox.
It's fun and the results are unexpected, as is the feeling of making a working photo camera yourself. .)
<!--break-->

- a 35mm reel of film, the most usual kind;
- what you'll be making the camera from - a box, not too big, a matchbox will do;
- black tape.
It will all be facilitated by a person and a photographer Dmitry Bulkin.
This is a call for participants!

First time that I propose a soviet movie and it's sci-fi again. We're watching "Kin Dza Dza" (1986). It's a comedy, an antiutopia and it even left an influence on russian language.
We watch the movie with a beamer on a white wall, the movie is in russian.
As it is longer we start earlier, at 18.00.

This Saturday, 29th of October, JASMA team invites everyone willing to walk a day's route along the Green Dune.
We believe that one can find beauty and peace in nature on our homelands. That's why we propose to hike this Saturday in the Kemeri national park.
This is a hike without staying for the night, but a hike non the less, so one should be prepared for our changy weather and that the route can easily make your feet wet. It is a 14km hike.

We meet at 8:50 by the Origo clock in the central station and take the 9:20 train out of Riga. If you attend, but are late - call Sania (26263217). We arrive to Kemeri at 10:22 and walk. The route will take 3-4 hours (maybe even more), at some point we will make a stop.

This time it's one of our favorites - "Gattaca" (1997, USA). In a future world one's life is determined by genetic engineering rather than education or experience. People are designed to fit into whatever role is decided before birth. But what happens when someone desires another life?
We watch the movie with a beamer on a white wall.
This monday a couple of volunteers from Slovakia presented their project to youngsters in JASMA.
They work in Vaivari primary school and organize different activities with children every day (takes a lot of imagination!).
Also, they designed a webpage for other volunteers to know what to be prepared for in Latvia (originally in slovak with automated translation).
Keep up the good work!
On the 7th of october at 18.30 we invite everyone to see a movie in JASMA office. We watch the movie, talk, share emotions and meet hew and interesting people. Free entry.
Proposing "Ricky" (2009, France). When Katie, an ordinary woman, meets Paco, an ordinary man, something magical happens: a love story. From this union an extraordinary child is born: Ricky.
We watch it with a beamer on a white wall, film is translated to russian.

After a (too long ;) break JASMA is participating again in Dublis! We took the 9th place (27 teams total)! No rain, nor wet wood could stop us from enjoying the race, nature and good company.
By the way we fulfilled our civil duty, voting right there, in Ligatne, for the 11th Saeima.

For details and application check the linkru.
Every second week we will watch a movie in the JASMA office. Something worth seeing and talking about. Join us absolutely free!
Sania is talking about EVS in public school N34.
Communication... There was something about that in the university, it was called "computer networking"!
If you don't know what's EVS, we're coming to you!
The main event of project Step Up! has ended.
The international youth exchange was hosted in Talsi region, Valdemarpils city, near a beautiful lake. From 9th to 17th of August 25 young people from 5 countries through interactive and fun methods found out for themselves what it is like – to work together, lead an active way of life and think of people around oneself. Countries involved in the exchange are situated in different Europe's regions, which gave an extra intercultural value to the exchange. We didn't do without intercultural everyday conflicts, but we found common language and learned to live together.
<!--break-->
As always we had to account for the weather, but overall all the planned activities went very well. We've done interesting and somewhat difficult exercises on ropes, which helped find common language and find one's limit.
Much time was devoted to realizing own opportunities and opportunities of other people - we designed real exercises and games for people with special needs, which we afterwards did together with inhabitants of a facility for mentally challenged in Veģi. We had lots of good impressions and memories. (coming soon to photos section)
The exchange is over and everyone is back home. But it doesn't mean that everything is over! We plan to do an open event in Riga to introduce our exchange and, possibly, propose interesting and new experience. Everyone's invited, follow the announcements!
Finally, thanks to the Bridgecamp Support Lab our site has a brand new design. Hooray!
As any web project it is developing and we would appreciate your comments and suggestions mailed to webmaster@jasma.lv.
National Agency of the „Youth in Action” program supported our youth exchange project „Step Up” (not about dancing, but about taking part). What will the exchange be about?
The themes are – active life style; participating in what is happening around; communication with youngsters from 5 different countries (Czech Republic, Lithuania, Turkey, Finland and Latvia) and a variety of interesting and active things.
We’re beginning the preparations, details coming soon!
This thursday commenced the third game of a passing stage of Riga Intellectual games club "Baltic Coast" international synchronous cup.
[JASMA] took 2-3 place.
On 19-26 of April in Svetlogorsk (Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia) was organised a training course for young leaders from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine, Belarus and Russia "Leadership for Participation: Making Local Projects with Impact".
The training course brought together 25 youth leaders, who actively work in youth organizations on local level, and was dedicated to themes of non-formal learning, youth participation, developing own ideas for resolving actual problems of young people. Also participants could share experience of living and working in their countries, get to know more about each other's culture, communicate and relax together.
Today, on 26th of April commenced the 1st Students Championship of Latvia in intellectual game "What? Where? When?".
And... Our team Gravicappa took 3rd place!
Hooray and congratulations!
It took some time and effort but finally www.jasma.lv is available to everybody.
Still with 3 languages, still with lots of info about us and not only.
The site is not complete and there are lots of features and nice design to come.
If you have any trouble or find any mistakes we'd be happy to know - send a mail to admin@jasma.lv.
