We invite everyone to see a movie in JASMA office. We watch the movie, talk, share emotions and meet hew and interesting people. Free entry.

We're watching Oxygen (Kislorod, 2009, Russia) from Ivan Vyripaev.

We watch the movie with a beamer on a white sheet, movie is in Russian.

For some time there's been a small community growing on facebook, JASMA fan page. Dynamic social network allows knowing about new events faster, discussions and comments, all kinds of active participation.
Join us! ;)

This monday a couple of volunteers from Slovakia presented their project to youngsters in JASMA.
They work in Vaivari primary school and organize different activities with children every day (takes a lot of imagination!).
Also, they designed a webpage for other volunteers to know what to be prepared for in Latvia (originally in slovak with automated translation).

Keep up the good work!

After a (too long ;) break JASMA is participating again in Dublis! We took the 9th place (27 teams total)! No rain, nor wet wood could stop us from enjoying the race, nature and good company.
By the way we fulfilled our civil duty, voting right there, in Ligatne, for the 11th Saeima.

First movie night at the (latest ;) JASMA office. We are having some heated discussions after "Noviembre".

Every second week we will watch a movie in the JASMA office. Something worth seeing and talking about. Join us absolutely free!

Sania is talking about EVS in public school N34.

Communication... There was something about that in the university, it was called "computer networking"!

If you don't know what's EVS, we're coming to you!

From 13th to 21st of September, in Jovariskes, a little village close to Lithuanian city Trakai, the international training course for youth workers "Step to Citizenship" took place. 20 youth workers from Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia have participated in intense programme, dealing with questions of working with Russian-speaking minority youngsters, active participation, and non-formal education. The interesting thing about this training was also the Russian as the working language.
Together, we were working to understand, what are the competences of the youth worker, what the sense of belonging is and what are the principles of non-formal education. Also, in the programme were used some unusual methods - as night outdoor, which for many appeared to be a big challenge, though after the hot discussions and evaluation, we have agreed the outdoor itself could be a very effective method.
Good news - most of the participants were teachers or youth workers, who didn't count themselves as young people - meaning, that the non-formal education is taking more into account.

The main event of project Step Up! has ended.

The international youth exchange was hosted in Talsi region, Valdemarpils city, near a beautiful lake. From 9th to 17th of August 25 young people from 5 countries through interactive and fun methods found out for themselves what it is like – to work together, lead an active way of life and think of people around oneself. Countries involved in the exchange are situated in different Europe's regions, which gave an extra intercultural value to the exchange. We didn't do without intercultural everyday conflicts, but we found common language and learned to live together.

As always we had to account for the weather, but overall all the planned activities went very well. We've done interesting and somewhat difficult exercises on ropes, which helped find common language and find one's limit.
Much time was devoted to realizing own opportunities and opportunities of other people - we designed real exercises and games for people with special needs, which we afterwards did together with inhabitants of a facility for mentally challenged in Veģi. We had lots of good impressions and memories. (coming soon to photos section)

The exchange is over and everyone is back home. But it doesn't mean that everything is over! We plan to do an open event in Riga to introduce our exchange and, possibly, propose interesting and new experience. Everyone's invited, follow the announcements!

Finally, thanks to the Bridgecamp Support Lab our site has a brand new design. Hooray!

As any web project it is developing and we would appreciate your comments and suggestions mailed to webmaster@jasma.lv.

National Agency of the „Youth in Action” program supported our youth exchange project „Step Up” (not about dancing, but about taking part). What will the exchange be about?

The themes are – active life style; participating in what is happening around; communication with youngsters from 5 different countries (Czech Republic, Lithuania, Turkey, Finland and Latvia) and a variety of interesting and active things.

We’re beginning the preparations, details coming soon!
